About the event

David Farrar is a local park ranger, twitcher and, unsurprisingly, a conservationist. Spending time in the Otways, Brisbane Ranges and Kinglake National Parks he has amassed a great understanding of natural history. He has also been involved in studies of the Asiatic Black Bear in China and Tibet.

Back home, it's the birds that command his focus - and he'll tell the tale of how he has improved the biodiversity of his Walkerville home over the past decade to give them the habitat they need to stay close.

We acknowledge the Bunurong and Gunnai-Kurnai nations and show our respects to the ancestors of Country and the people living today of these tribal nations. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded and there have been fundamental changes to their culture and will work to restore what we can. We can all honour these ancestors by caring for country and respecting the balance of nature that feeds and protects all living things.
