An hour with South Gippsland Shire's CEO

Writer: ACF Prom Area Climate ActionACF Prom Area Climate Action

After a wild weather week where our region sustained so much damage from fallen trees and loss of power, we were grateful that Kerryn Ellis delivered on her commitment to present at our webinar and discuss where things are at in local council with respect to climate change and sustainability. With the frequency of such storms set to increase, it was a much needed wake up call.

Kerryn is someone who comes to our region with a particular interest in communities making rapid change. An articulate and sensitive speaker, Kerryn was also very open to hearing our questions and giving us a full response - with an undertaking to follow up on some points. Happily, there will soon be an opportunity for the community to be involved in developing future policy - listen and learn more.

We acknowledge the Bunurong and Gunnai-Kurnai nations and show our respects to the ancestors of Country and the people living today of these tribal nations. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded and there have been fundamental changes to their culture and will work to restore what we can. We can all honour these ancestors by caring for country and respecting the balance of nature that feeds and protects all living things.
